Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Part-time Preschool Support professional to join our team in Baltimore. While the official job title is ‘Weekend Childcare Aide,’ this specific opening is dedicated to providing vital support for our preschool programs from Monday through Friday. You will assist lead teachers in creating a safe, engaging, and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their development and well-being. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about early childhood education and looking for consistent weekday hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities for preschool-aged children.
- Supervise children during playtime, mealtimes, and nap times, ensuring their safety and engagement.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Support children with basic needs, including potty training and personal hygiene.
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
- Observe and report children's progress and any concerns to the lead teacher.
- Engage children in educational and recreational activities designed for their age group.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with children
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Basic understanding of child development principles
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a childcare or preschool setting
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent coursework
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience with diverse age groups (infants, toddlers, preschoolers)
