Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Ward Manager to lead our dedicated nursing team in Brighton. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the ward, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care in a safe and supportive environment. This role requires a strong leader with proven clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will play a crucial role in maintaining high standards of clinical practice, fostering a positive work culture, and contributing to the overall success of our hospital.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong leadership and management to the ward nursing team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the ward, including patient flow, resource allocation, and staff rostering.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care in line with clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and hospital policies.
- Manage and resolve patient complaints, ensuring effective communication and resolution.
- Conduct regular audits and evaluations to monitor clinical standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Support the professional development of the nursing team through mentorship, training, and performance reviews.
- Collaborate with other departments and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient pathways.
- Participate in budget management and resource planning for the ward.
- Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Current NMC registration (Adult Nurse)
- Extensive post-registration experience in an acute care setting, with significant experience at senior staff nurse or charge nurse level.
- Demonstrable leadership and management experience within a ward or clinical area.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Strong clinical decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in IT systems relevant to healthcare.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.
- Management qualification or evidence of leadership training.
- Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
- Post-graduate qualification in a relevant specialty.
