Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Technical Shopify Consultant to join our dynamic team in Fredericton. This pivotal role involves acting as the crucial link between our clients’ business objectives and the technical capabilities of the Shopify platform. You will be responsible for understanding complex business requirements, translating them into robust Shopify solutions, and guiding their technical implementation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Shopify’s ecosystem, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to deliver innovative e-commerce experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult with clients to thoroughly understand their business needs, challenges, and goals related to their e-commerce operations on Shopify.
- Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, solution architectures, and project plans for Shopify implementations.
- Design, configure, and customize Shopify themes (using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and apps to meet client-specific functionalities and branding.
- Integrate third-party applications and APIs with Shopify stores, ensuring seamless data flow and optimal performance.
- Provide expert guidance on Shopify best practices for performance, SEO, user experience, and overall site health.
- Collaborate closely with development teams, designers, and project managers throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct technical audits of existing Shopify stores and recommend improvements.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Shopify features, updates, and industry trends to provide cutting-edge solutions.
- Lead technical discussions, present solutions to clients, and provide ongoing technical support and training.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Technical Consultant or Developer with significant Shopify platform expertise.
- Deep understanding of the Shopify ecosystem, including themes, apps, APIs, and Liquid templating language.
- Strong proficiency in front-end web technologies: HTML5, CSS3 (SCSS), JavaScript (ES6+).
- Experience with Shopify API integrations (REST and GraphQL).
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective client and team interaction.
- Demonstrated project management abilities, including planning, execution, and delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
- Shopify Partner Certification or relevant platform certifications.
- Experience with other e-commerce platforms (e.g., Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud).
- Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) for Shopify headless commerce solutions.
- Experience working in an agile development environment.
- Previous agency or consulting experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
