Job Description
Are you looking for an opportunity to kickstart your career in the construction and infrastructure sector? PCL Construction is seeking motivated and safety-conscious individuals to join our team as Traffic Controllers in Burnaby. This is an entry-level position that comes with comprehensive paid training, ensuring you have all the skills and certifications needed to succeed. You’ll play a crucial role in maintaining safety and efficiency on our job sites, directing traffic, and protecting our workers and the public. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic around construction zones using stop/slow paddles, flags, and other signaling devices.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, pedestrians, and construction personnel.
- Set up and take down traffic control equipment, including signs, cones, and barricades, according to safety regulations and work zone plans.
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust controls as needed to maintain safety and minimize disruption.
- Maintain a high level of vigilance and awareness of surroundings at all times.
- Adhere to all provincial traffic control regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other crew members and site supervisors.
- Report any incidents, hazards, or concerns promptly to the site supervisor.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Commitment to safety and a strong work ethic.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites in the Burnaby area.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a physically demanding role or outdoor work environment.
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) Driver's License.
- Knowledge of basic traffic control principles (training provided).
