Job Description

Join UPMC as a Suicide Prevention Awareness Intern and contribute to vital community health initiatives. This internship offers a unique opportunity to support our efforts in raising awareness, reducing stigma, and promoting resources for suicide prevention. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in public health, community outreach, and mental health advocacy within a leading healthcare system. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference in community mental wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and dissemination of suicide prevention awareness materials, including brochures, social media content, and presentations.
  • Support the planning and execution of community outreach events, workshops, and educational sessions focused on mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Conduct research on best practices and emerging trends in suicide prevention strategies and interventions.
  • Help maintain and update a resource database for individuals seeking mental health support and crisis services.
  • Contribute to internal communications to educate UPMC staff on suicide prevention protocols and resources.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for program enhancement and community engagement.
  • Assist with data collection and reporting related to program activities and outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Communications, or a related field.
  • Previous volunteer or academic experience in mental health advocacy or community health.
  • Familiarity with local community resources in Pittsburgh, PA.
  • Experience with graphic design or content creation tools is a plus.
