Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Regulatory Affairs Chemist with a global compliance focus to join our team in Spokane, WA. In this critical role, you will be responsible for ensuring that our diverse range of chemical products, reagents, and scientific materials meet all international and local regulatory requirements. You will work cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and legal teams to interpret complex regulations, develop compliance strategies, and manage submissions to regulatory bodies worldwide. This position requires a deep understanding of chemical regulations, excellent analytical skills, and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating compliance risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the interpretation and implementation of global chemical regulations (e.g., REACH, GHS, TSCA, K-REACH, China IECSC, etc.) for new and existing products.
  • Prepare and manage regulatory submissions, registrations, and notifications to relevant authorities globally.
  • Conduct detailed chemical hazard assessments and develop Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and labels in compliance with GHS and country-specific requirements.
  • Collaborate with R&D to ensure new product development incorporates regulatory compliance from the initial stages.
  • Provide expert guidance to internal teams on chemical regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Monitor changes in global chemical legislation and assess their impact on our product portfolio.
  • Represent the company in discussions with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and third-party auditors.
  • Support internal and external audits related to product compliance and regulatory affairs.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on chemical regulatory compliance for relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage and maintain regulatory documentation and databases to ensure accuracy and audit readiness.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, or a related scientific field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in regulatory affairs within the chemical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry, with a strong focus on global chemical compliance.
  • In-depth knowledge of global chemical regulations including REACH, GHS, TSCA, and other regional chemical inventory and hazard communication regulations.
  • Proven experience in preparing and submitting regulatory dossiers and managing product registrations.
  • Expertise in authoring and reviewing Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and product labels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical and regulatory information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Toxicology, or a related field.
  • Experience with regulatory affairs in diagnostic or medical device chemical components.
  • Certification in Regulatory Affairs (e.g., RAC).
  • Familiarity with regulatory information management systems (e.g., SAP EHS).
  • Experience managing projects with global cross-functional teams.
