Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Student Affairs Director to lead and enhance the student experience at our Duncan campus. This pivotal role involves overseeing all aspects of student life, from orientation and support services to extracurricular activities and student conduct. The successful candidate will be instrumental in fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for all students, with a particular focus on the unique needs of our international student population. This position offers visa sponsorship for qualified international candidates looking to make a significant impact on student success in Canada.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive student support programs and services.
  • Oversee student orientation, advising, career services, and wellness programs.
  • Manage student conduct processes and ensure adherence to university policies.
  • Lead and mentor a team of student affairs professionals and staff.
  • Collaborate with academic departments, faculty, and other university units to enhance the student experience.
  • Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  • Champion initiatives promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging among students.
  • Address student concerns and grievances with empathy and professionalism.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on student affairs metrics and outcomes for senior leadership.
  • Stay current with best practices in student affairs and higher education.

Required Skills

  • Proven leadership and management experience in student affairs or a related field, preferably within a university setting.
  • Strong understanding of student development theory and best practices in student support.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including international students.
  • Experience in budget management and strategic planning.
  • A track record of fostering positive campus environments.
  • Proficiency in student information systems and data analysis for decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Experience with visa sponsorship processes and supporting international student transitions.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian higher education system and relevant regulations.
  • Certification in crisis intervention or mental health first aid.
