Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and community-minded Community Center Assistant to join our team. This flexible part-time role supports the daily operations of one of our key community centers, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will be passionate about community service, possess strong organizational skills, and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to the well-being of the Saint John community.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup and takedown of rooms and equipment for various programs and events.
- Provide front-desk support, including greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and directing calls.
- Process program registrations and payments accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of common areas, ensuring a safe and presentable environment.
- Assist in the coordination and supervision of community programs and activities.
- Distribute promotional materials and information about center offerings.
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and scheduling.
- Act as a point of contact for community members, resolving minor issues or escalating as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Customer service orientation.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks, including lifting and moving equipment (up to 20 lbs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a community center, recreational facility, or customer service role.
- Knowledge of community resources and services in Saint John.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience with registration software.
