Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Elevator / Escalator Mechanic to join our team in Brantford, Ontario. This role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals, with sponsorship support available for qualified international candidates. As an Elevator / Escalator Mechanic, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and modernization of various elevator and escalator systems. You will ensure the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency, working independently and as part of a team to uphold Otis’s reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on elevator and escalator systems.
  • Install new elevator and escalator equipment according to specifications and safety codes.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential issues and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency breakdowns promptly and efficiently.
  • Execute modernization projects, upgrading existing equipment with new technology.
  • Document all work performed, including repairs, installations, and inspections.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, as well as local and national codes.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members, providing exceptional service.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Elevator / Escalator Mechanic or similar role (minimum 3 years).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing complex elevator and escalator faults.
  • Knowledge of local and national elevator/escalator safety codes and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized elevator/escalator mechanic apprenticeship program.
  • Elevator Mechanic License (e.g., TSSA Mechanic-in-Training or Class A/B license in Ontario).
  • Experience with various brands and types of elevator and escalator equipment.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
