Job Description
Join our dedicated team as a Special Education Music Aide and make a profound difference in the lives of students with special needs. This meaningful role provides essential support within our special education programs, specifically integrating music-based activities to enhance learning, communication, and social-emotional development. We are looking for compassionate individuals who are eager to learn and grow, offering comprehensive paid training to equip you with the skills needed to succeed. No prior experience in special education or formal music teaching is required, just a passion for helping children and an appreciation for music’s therapeutic and educational power.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist special education teachers in implementing music-based activities and lessons for students with diverse needs.
- Facilitate individual and small group music activities, including singing, playing simple instruments, and rhythmic exercises.
- Support students in developing communication, motor skills, and social interaction through musical engagement.
- Prepare and organize music materials, instruments, and classroom spaces for daily activities.
- Observe and document student progress and behavior during music sessions, reporting to the supervising teacher.
- Provide a safe, positive, and engaging environment that encourages student participation and self-expression.
- Collaborate with special education teachers and other support staff to integrate music into broader educational goals.
- Participate actively in all required paid training sessions and professional development opportunities.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
