Job Description
StarLight Sound Studios is seeking talented and versatile Session Musicians to join our roster on a per-project contract basis. We are looking for dedicated instrumentalists and vocalists with a strong ability to adapt to diverse musical styles, take direction efficiently, and deliver polished performances within a professional studio environment. This role is ideal for musicians who thrive in collaborative settings and are eager to contribute their skills to a wide range of recording projects, from demos to full album productions. You will work closely with artists, producers, and engineers to lay down tracks that meet the highest sonic standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform instrumental or vocal parts as directed by producers and artists during recording sessions.
- Quickly learn and accurately perform new musical pieces or arrangements.
- Provide creative input and suggestions when appropriate to enhance the musical outcome.
- Maintain a professional attitude and punctuality for all scheduled sessions.
- Collaborate effectively with other musicians, producers, and engineers.
- Ensure high-quality, clean takes with minimal need for re-recording due to technical errors.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in one or more instruments (e.g., guitar, bass, drums, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds) or vocals.
- Excellent sight-reading and ear training skills.
- Strong understanding of music theory and harmony.
- Ability to adapt to various musical genres (e.g., pop, rock, jazz, country, R&B, classical).
- Professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
- Experience playing with a click track and understanding of tempo/groove.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a session musician in a professional recording studio.
- Ability to multi-instrumentalize or provide diverse vocal styles.
- Basic knowledge of recording studio etiquette and workflow.
- Access to high-quality personal instruments and equipment.
- Portfolio or demo reel showcasing recording work.
