Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Commercial Awning Installer (Mate) to join our growing construction support team in Pickering, Ontario. In this role, you will work alongside experienced installers to assist in the precise and safe installation of various commercial awnings, canopies, and shade structures. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in the construction industry with a focus on specialized installations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead installers with the precise measurement, layout, and assembly of commercial awning components.
  • Safely load, unload, and transport materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Operate hand and power tools under supervision for cutting, drilling, and fastening materials.
  • Help prepare installation sites, including minor cleanup and organizing equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all company safety protocols and procedures.
  • Support the installation process by holding components, running lines, and performing general labor tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and site supervisors regarding project progress and issues.

Required Skills

  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs) and work at heights.
  • Basic understanding and safe use of hand tools and common power tools (e.g., drills, grinders).
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in construction, general labor, or a related trade.
  • Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Working at Heights certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
