Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Robotics Engineer to join our cutting-edge research and development team in Manchester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design, development, and implementation of advanced robotic systems for critical defense and aerospace applications. You will be instrumental in pushing the boundaries of autonomous systems, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and seeing your work transition from concept to operational deployment. This on-site position requires a hands-on approach to problem-solving and a passion for robotics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test robotic systems, including hardware and software components.
  • Implement advanced control algorithms for robotic manipulation, navigation, and perception.
  • Conduct simulations and perform physical testing of robotic prototypes.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to integrate robotic solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex robotic systems.
  • Document designs, test procedures, and results comprehensively.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies and advancements in the field of robotics.
  • Participate in project planning, system architecture definition, and technical reviews.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in C++ and Python for robotics development.
  • Experience with Robot Operating System (ROS).
  • Strong understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and control theory for robotic manipulators.
  • Familiarity with sensors commonly used in robotics (e.g., LiDAR, cameras, IMUs).
  • Experience with CAD software for mechanical design.
  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning or artificial intelligence in a robotics context.
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards for robotic systems.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Previous experience in the defense or aerospace industry.
