Job Description
Lafarge Canada Inc. is seeking a dedicated and meticulous Quality Control Inspector to join our team in Nanaimo, British Columbia. This role is essential for ensuring that all our products and processes meet the highest quality standards before reaching our customers. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of quality assurance principles, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic industrial environment. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established specifications and standards.
- Perform various tests and measurements using specialized equipment to verify product quality and consistency.
- Document inspection results accurately, identifying and reporting any deviations or non-conformances.
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain calibration records for testing equipment and ensure all instruments are in good working order.
- Assist in the development and revision of quality control procedures and documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis for quality failures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality standards and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Quality Control Inspector or in a similar role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of quality control methodologies and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in using various measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Office Suite).
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Quality Control (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Familiarity with specific industry standards relevant to building materials.
- Post-secondary education in a technical field or related discipline.
