Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Public Revenue Collection Agent to join our growing team in Seattle. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the efficient and compliant collection of public revenues on behalf of our governmental and public sector clients. This position requires strong communication skills, a meticulous approach to financial data, and a commitment to upholding public trust and regulatory standards. You will play a vital part in ensuring the financial stability and operational effectiveness of public services in our community, contributing directly to the well-being and development of our clients’ operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of revenue accounts for various public sector clients.
  • Communicate professionally with individuals and organizations regarding outstanding payments through multiple channels (phone, email, written correspondence).
  • Negotiate payment plans and settlements effectively, always in strict accordance with established policies and governmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate, detailed, and confidential records of all collection activities and account statuses within our systems.
  • Collaborate proactively with internal legal and accounting teams to resolve complex collection issues and ensure proper escalation when necessary.
  • Prepare and submit regular, comprehensive reports on collection performance, outstanding balances, and compliance metrics.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal collection laws, privacy regulations (e.g., FDCPA), and client-specific protocols.
  • Identify opportunities and recommend process improvements to enhance collection efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining professionalism, empathy, and discretion at all times.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections, accounting, or a related financial role.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and persuasively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage a high-volume caseload efficiently.
  • High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and ability to handle confidential financial information.
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reconciliation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Prior experience working with public sector clients or government agencies.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard collection software and CRM systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to debt collection (e.g., FDCPA, TCPA).
