Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Outpatient Meds-to-Beds Technician to join our dynamic pharmacy team in Colorado Springs. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for ensuring seamless medication transitions for our outpatient population, delivering medications directly to patients prior to discharge, and providing essential education on proper medication usage. This position requires a strong emphasis on direct patient interaction, empathy, and clear communication to enhance the overall patient experience and ensure medication adherence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct direct patient consultations to explain new medications, potential side effects, and administration instructions prior to discharge.
  • Accurately dispense and deliver prescribed medications to patients at their bedside or designated outpatient pickup area.
  • Verify patient identity and medication accuracy with a high degree of precision.
  • Collaborate closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to resolve medication-related issues and ensure patient safety.
  • Document all patient interactions and medication deliveries in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to all safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient questions and concerns with professionalism and compassion.
  • Assist with inventory management, stocking, and quality control procedures within the outpatient pharmacy.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Active Colorado Pharmacy Technician registration or certification (CPhT preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a retail, outpatient, or hospital pharmacy setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient education
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and pharmacy dispensing software
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication handling and documentation
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • Experience with Meds-to-Beds programs or similar discharge medication services
  • Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish)
  • Advanced certification in pharmacy technology or patient counseling
