Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. This entry-level position is an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to learn the intricacies of healthcare finance and billing within a leading academic medical center. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical claims, contributing directly to our operational success and patient care mission. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and submission of medical claims to insurance companies and other payers.
- Review and verify patient demographic and insurance information for accuracy.
- Process patient payments and adjustments.
- Follow up on outstanding claims and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Learn and apply medical coding (ICD-10, CPT) principles under supervision.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information (HIPAA compliance).
- Communicate effectively with patients and insurance providers regarding billing inquiries.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation for billing.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development related to healthcare finance.
