Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician with a strong focus on conveyor belt systems to join our team in Joliet, Illinois. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various material handling equipment, with a particular emphasis on our extensive conveyor infrastructure. You will work to ensure maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and safety within our fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on conveyor systems, sortation equipment, and other material handling machinery.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues on equipment.
- Execute repairs and replacements of faulty components, including motors, gearboxes, belts, rollers, sensors, and control devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to effectively diagnose and repair equipment.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to document work orders, maintenance activities, and parts usage.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Collaborate with operations teams to minimize downtime and ensure smooth workflow.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Required Skills
- 2+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Proven experience with conveyor systems maintenance and repair.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in electrical systems, including motor controls, PLCs (basic troubleshooting), and sensor technologies.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams.
- Basic welding and fabrication skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Electro-Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- Experience with various types of conveyor systems (e.g., belt, roller, sortation).
- Familiarity with robotic systems and automated material handling equipment.
- Experience with CMMS software (e.g., Maximo, SAP PM).
- Forklift and aerial lift certification.
