Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Brewing Chemist with a strong focus on beverage science to join our dynamic R&D team in Henderson, Nevada. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, consistency, and innovation of our diverse beverage portfolio. You will be responsible for conducting chemical analyses, developing new methodologies, and contributing to the research and development of new products and processes in a fun and collaborative work culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and specialized chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished beverage products.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including HPLC, GC, spectrophotometers, and other analytical instruments.
- Develop and validate new analytical methods to support R&D and quality control initiatives.
- Monitor and analyze fermentation processes, stability, and sensory characteristics of beverages.
- Collaborate with brewing, production, and sensory teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize product quality.
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, analyses, and results in compliance with quality standards.
- Contribute to new product development projects from conception to pilot scale-up and commercialization.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, TTB).
- Present findings and recommendations to cross-functional teams and management.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a brewing, beverage, or food chemistry laboratory setting.
- Proficiency with various analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, UV-Vis spectroscopy, wet chemistry).
- Strong understanding of brewing chemistry, fermentation science, and sensory analysis principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and technical report writing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Brewing Science, Food Chemistry, or a related advanced scientific field.
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and statistical software.
- Knowledge of TTB regulations, FDA guidelines, and other relevant beverage industry standards.
- Certified beer judge (BJCP) or formal sensory training experience.
- Prior experience in new product development and scale-up processes within the beverage industry.
