Job Description
Join Target’s dynamic logistics team as a Loading Dock Assistant in Chapel Hill, NC. This early morning role is perfect for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys finishing their workday by noon. You will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our loading dock, responsible for receiving, sorting, and dispatching merchandise to ensure our stores are well-stocked and our guests have access to the products they love. Physical stamina, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety are key in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Unload incoming trucks and sort merchandise efficiently and accurately.
- Verify contents against shipping manifests and report discrepancies.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Organize and prepare merchandise for storage or transfer to the sales floor.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe loading dock area.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as needed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) repeatedly.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for early morning shifts.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic communication skills to interact with team members.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, loading dock, or retail backroom setting.
- Experience operating pallet jacks or forklifts (certification a plus).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
