Job Description

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled and dedicated Horologist / Master Watchmaker to join our esteemed team in La Chaux-de-Fonds. This is a unique opportunity for a highly experienced professional to contribute to the creation and restoration of some of the world’s most exquisite timepieces. The successful candidate will possess a profound understanding of complex watch mechanisms, a meticulous eye for detail, and an unwavering commitment to quality. You will work on a variety of intricate movements, from vintage masterpieces to modern complications, ensuring their precision, functionality, and aesthetic integrity. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complete dismantling, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly of complex mechanical watch movements.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in watch mechanisms, including escapements, gear trains, and winding systems.
  • Execute repairs and adjustments on a wide range of calibers, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
  • Restore vintage and antique watches, including fabricating or modifying components as needed.
  • Conduct final quality control checks, including timing, water resistance, and aesthetic inspection.
  • Document all work performed accurately and comprehensively.
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams on new product development or technical challenges.
  • Stay abreast of new horological techniques, materials, and technologies.
  • Mentor junior watchmakers and share expert knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in fine mechanical watchmaking, including complex complications (e.g., perpetual calendars, tourbillons, minute repeaters).
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and precision with micro-components.
  • Proficiency with a wide array of watchmaking tools and machinery.
  • Deep knowledge of horological theory, history, and different movement architectures.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Fluency in English (verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications

  • WOSTEP or equivalent advanced watchmaking certification.
  • Experience with specific Audemars Piguet calibers or other high-end watch brands.
  • Proficiency in French or German.
  • A portfolio showcasing previous work on complex timepieces.
  • Experience in restoration of antique watches.
