Job Description
We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Foley Artist to join our dynamic audio post-production team in Newport, RI. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of sound design principles, a creative approach to recreating sounds, and a passion for enhancing visual narratives through meticulous audio work. This role involves working closely with sound supervisors, editors, and directors to bring scenes to life through realistic and imaginative sound effects.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and record foley effects (footsteps, props, cloth, etc.) in sync with picture for film and television productions.
- Collaborate with sound supervisors and directors to understand the sonic requirements and creative vision for each project.
- Source and create unique props and surfaces to achieve specific sound textures and qualities.
- Operate foley recording equipment, including microphones, preamps, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Edit and clean up recorded foley tracks, ensuring high quality and seamless integration.
- Maintain the foley stage, props, and equipment in excellent working condition.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in foley artistry and sound design.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Foley Artist in film or television post-production.
- Strong understanding of sound physics and acoustic properties.
- Proficiency with digital audio workstations (e.g., Pro Tools, Nuendo).
- Excellent sense of rhythm, timing, and improvisation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Creative mindset with a passion for sonic storytelling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Film Production, or a related field.
- Experience with various microphone techniques and recording setups.
- Portfolio or demo reel showcasing foley work in diverse projects.
- Knowledge of sound effects libraries and sound design principles beyond foley.
