Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Drama / Theater Arts Teacher to join our esteemed faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching drama and theater arts to students across various grade levels, fostering creativity, critical thinking, and performance skills. This role involves developing and implementing engaging curriculum, directing school plays and productions, and contributing to the vibrant arts program at Charlotte Latin School. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver engaging curriculum for drama and theater arts classes, appropriate for various age groups.
  • Direct multiple school plays and theatrical productions throughout the academic year, including casting, rehearsals, and performance management.
  • Teach students techniques in acting, stagecraft, directing, playwriting, and theater history.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom and rehearsal environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and self-expression.
  • Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with other arts faculty members to integrate theater arts into the broader school curriculum and community.
  • Manage theater equipment, props, and costumes.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Drama, Theater Arts, Performing Arts, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching drama/theater arts at the K-12 level.
  • Proven ability to direct theatrical productions.
  • Strong understanding of theater techniques, history, and various performance styles.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students of all ages and skill levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Drama, Theater Arts, or Education.
  • Experience with various theatrical genres and multicultural perspectives.
  • Familiarity with educational technology and its application in performing arts.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.
  • A portfolio demonstrating successful past productions or teaching experiences.
  • Eligibility for visa sponsorship in the United States.
