Job Description
Join our dedicated road paving crew as an Asphalt Raker and play a crucial role in constructing and maintaining Canada’s infrastructure. This physically demanding role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, including hot environments, to ensure the precise and efficient placement of asphalt. You will be responsible for manually raking, shoveling, and leveling hot asphalt to achieve a smooth and durable road surface. Safety is paramount in all our operations, and you will be expected to adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Manually rake and shovel hot asphalt to desired depth and grade following supervisor instructions.
- Assist in spreading and leveling asphalt mix using various hand tools.
- Work closely with other crew members to ensure proper placement and compaction of asphalt.
- Operate small hand-held equipment (e.g., tampers, shovels, rakes) as required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools and equipment.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with traffic control and site preparation tasks as needed.
- Perform other general labor duties as assigned by the crew foreman or supervisor.
Required Skills
- Physical stamina and strength to perform continuous heavy manual labor.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in road construction, landscaping, or general labor.
- Experience working with hot materials or in industrial environments.
- Valid G-class driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
