Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier / Wine Director to elevate the wine program and enhance the dining experience at our prestigious establishment in Leamington Spa. This is a unique opportunity for a dedicated wine professional to lead our cellar management, curate an exceptional wine list, and provide world-class service. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and continuously update an innovative and comprehensive wine and beverage list.
- Oversee all aspects of cellar management, including inventory, ordering, storage, and cost control.
- Provide expert wine recommendations to guests, guiding them through selections to perfectly complement their dining choices.
- Conduct regular wine training for front-of-house staff to ensure a high level of wine knowledge and service standards.
- Maintain strong relationships with wine producers, suppliers, and distributors.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, and safety regulations related to beverage service.
- Contribute to the overall guest experience, ensuring exceptional service delivery and guest satisfaction.
- Manage wine budgets, achieve revenue targets, and minimize waste.
- Organize and host wine tasting events, pairings, and educational sessions for guests and staff.
Required Skills
- WSET Level 3 Advanced Certificate or equivalent (e.g., CMS Advanced Sommelier)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Sommelier in a high-end restaurant or luxury hotel setting
- Exceptional knowledge of global wines, spirits, and other beverages
- Proven ability to manage and curate a dynamic wine program
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Impeccable customer service orientation and professional demeanor
- Proficiency in inventory management and POS systems
Preferred Qualifications
- WSET Diploma or Master Sommelier certification
- Experience with international luxury hotel brands
- Multilingual abilities, especially French, Italian, or German
- Demonstrated success in increasing wine sales and profitability
- A passion for continuous learning and development in the wine industry
