Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Junior App Developer to join our dynamic team in York. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for an individual with a passion for mobile technology and a desire to kick-start their career in app development. You will work alongside experienced developers, learning best practices, and contributing to the creation and maintenance of our critical mobile applications for both internal and external users. This role offers hands-on experience with modern development tools and methodologies in a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, testing, and deployment of new features for existing mobile applications.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code under the guidance of senior developers.
  • Participate in code reviews to learn and contribute to high-quality code standards.
  • Debug and troubleshoot application issues, working to resolve bugs and improve performance.
  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and QA testers to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging mobile technologies and industry trends.
  • Document technical specifications and development processes.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of programming concepts and object-oriented principles.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, JavaScript).
  • Understanding of mobile operating systems (iOS and/or Android).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with personal projects, hackathons, or open-source contributions in mobile development.
  • Exposure to front-end development frameworks (e.g., React Native, Flutter, Xamarin) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Understanding of UI/UX principles for mobile applications.
