Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and safety-conscious Dust Control Water Sprayer to join our construction team in Fernie, British Columbia for the summer season. In this vital role, you will be responsible for operating water trucks and other designated equipment to suppress dust on our active construction sites, ensuring a safer and healthier environment for all workers and surrounding communities. This position requires a strong commitment to safety protocols, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in an outdoor, dynamic construction setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate water trucks and other equipment to effectively spray down construction sites, haul roads, and material stockpiles to control dust.
- Monitor weather conditions and site activity to determine optimal dust control measures.
- Perform routine pre-operation and post-operation checks on equipment, including fluid levels, tire pressure, and general condition.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly to supervisors.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Maintain clear communication with other site personnel regarding water truck movements and dust control activities.
- Ensure the proper use and care of all personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other general labour tasks on site as required and directed by supervisors.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently (training may be provided for specific water truck operation).
- Strong understanding and commitment to construction site safety procedures.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and lift moderate weights if required.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating water trucks or other heavy equipment on a construction site.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine equipment maintenance checks.
- First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of local environmental regulations regarding dust control.
