Job Description

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Charter School Music Lead to spearhead our music program within an innovative educational framework. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to shape the musical journey of our students, from elementary through high school, fostering creativity, discipline, and a lifelong appreciation for music. The Music Lead will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum, directing student ensembles, and mentoring other music educators. We are looking for a visionary leader who can integrate music across various disciplines, champion student performance, and build a vibrant musical community within our school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive K-12 music curriculum aligned with school mission and state standards.
  • Teach various music classes and direct student ensembles (e.g., choir, band, orchestra, general music).
  • Mentor and collaborate with other music educators, providing guidance and professional development.
  • Organize and oversee school-wide music performances, concerts, and events.
  • Manage and maintain music equipment, instruments, and practice spaces.
  • Develop and manage the music program budget.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student creativity and participation.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding program activities and student progress.
  • Actively participate in school leadership meetings and contribute to the broader school community.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Performance, or a related field
  • Valid California teaching credential in music (or eligibility)
  • Minimum of 4 years of successful music teaching experience in a K-12 setting
  • Proven ability to teach and direct various musical genres and ensembles
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in musical instruments and theory
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate students of diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Education or related field
  • Experience in curriculum development and program leadership
  • Experience with charter school environments and innovative teaching methodologies
  • Fluency in multiple musical instruments or styles
  • Knowledge of music technology and its application in education
