Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Farm Labourer to join our team at The Leckford Estate. This is a vital role, working across various aspects of our farming operations. You will be involved in all stages of the agricultural cycle, from planting and growing to harvesting and animal care. This position requires a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to perform physical tasks in all weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with crop cultivation, including planting, weeding, thinning, and harvesting a variety of fruits, vegetables, and arable crops.
- Support livestock management, including feeding, watering, and general care of cattle, sheep, and other farm animals.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment under supervision, ensuring safe and efficient use.
- Perform general farm maintenance, such as fencing repair, building upkeep, and clearing debris.
- Participate in irrigation activities, ensuring crops receive adequate water.
- Help with the preparation of land for planting, including soil cultivation and fertilization.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and farm protocols.
- Work collaboratively with the farm management team and other labourers to achieve daily tasks and seasonal objectives.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous tasks for extended periods.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, sun, cold).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Commitment to animal welfare and sustainable farming practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working on a farm or in an outdoor physical role.
- Basic knowledge of agricultural practices and machinery.
- Full UK driving license.
- Certifications in operating specific farm machinery (e.g., tractor driving) are a plus but not essential.
