Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and physically capable Heavy Duty Rack Assembler to join our operations team in Oxford. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient assembly, installation, maintenance, and repair of various heavy-duty racking systems and storage solutions within our warehouses and sheds. Your work will directly contribute to the optimal organization, safety, and operational flow of our facilities, ensuring that goods are stored and retrieved effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, disassemble, and reconfigure heavy-duty racking, shelving units, and other storage systems according to technical drawings and safety specifications.
- Inspect existing rack structures for damage, wear, and compliance with safety regulations, reporting and performing necessary repairs or replacements.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively, including drills, wrenches, levels, and measuring devices.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials and components, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, strictly adhering to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with warehouse management, safety teams, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of new or modified storage systems.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge of new equipment and safety practices.
- Perform general warehouse duties as required, supporting overall operational efficiency and team objectives.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools.
- Demonstrated physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 kg / 55 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in following complex assembly instructions and blueprints.
- Understanding and strict adherence to workplace safety protocols.
- Ability to work independently and as an effective team member in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, construction, manufacturing, or assembly role, particularly with heavy-duty structures.
- Experience with specific types of racking systems (e.g., pallet racking, cantilever racking, drive-in racking).
- Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, schematics, or blueprints.
- Forklift operator certification or experience operating other material handling equipment.
