Job Description
Are you passionate about creativity and have an eye for detail? John Lewis & Partners in Cheltenham is looking for a dedicated Retail Window Display Assistant to join our Visual Support team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to creating visually stunning displays that captivate our customers and enhance their shopping experience. You will work closely with our visual merchandising team to bring concepts to life, ensuring our windows and in-store displays are always fresh, engaging, and reflective of our brand’s high standards. As a Retail Window Display Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the execution and maintenance of our visual merchandising strategies. This full-time, on-site position offers the chance to develop your skills in a dynamic retail environment, supported by a team that values creativity and collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Visual Merchandising team in the installation and dismantling of window and in-store displays according to briefs and guidelines.
- Ensure all displays are perfectly maintained, clean, and styled to the highest standards, regularly checking for any defects or damage.
- Support the preparation of props, fixtures, and merchandise for display.
- Help to manage and organise the visual merchandising stockroom, ensuring items are stored efficiently and safely.
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently during all display installations and maintenance.
- Provide support for seasonal changes and promotional events, contributing to a dynamic store aesthetic.
- Work collaboratively with sales assistants and other store partners to understand product placement and customer flow.
Required Skills
- A strong interest in visual merchandising, retail display, or design.
- Excellent attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physical stamina, as the role involves lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of visual principles and composition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail environment or a visual merchandising support role.
- A relevant qualification in art, design, fashion, or a related creative field.
- A portfolio showcasing creative projects, even if personal or academic.
- Familiarity with current retail trends and visual display techniques.
