Job Description
Swift Transportation is seeking highly motivated and experienced Independent Contractors (Owner-Operators) to join our growing fleet. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial motor vehicles safely and efficiently in accordance with all DOT regulations and company policies.
- Manage your own dispatch and route selection with the freedom of no forced dispatch.
- Ensure timely and secure delivery of freight to designated locations.
- Maintain accurate records of hours of service, mileage, and fuel consumption.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and report any maintenance needs promptly.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized truck.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A CDL
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR)
- Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Commitment to safety and professionalism
- Own or lease a well-maintained tractor (or ability to lease through Swift's program)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various freight types (e.g., dry van, refrigerated, flatbed)
- Strong business acumen and desire to operate an independent enterprise
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software
