Job Description

Are you a responsible 13-year-old looking for your very first job? The Press-Enterprise is offering an exciting opportunity for dedicated teens to join our team as a Newspaper Route Carrier in the Rialto neighborhood. This role is perfect for someone eager to earn pocket money, stay active, and become a vital part of delivering essential local news to your community. You’ll gain invaluable experience in time management, customer service, and reliability. This is an on-site position focused entirely on your local neighborhood route.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver newspapers to designated residential and business addresses within your assigned neighborhood route, Monday through Friday, and occasional weekends.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of newspapers, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with customers.
  • Report any delivery issues or customer inquiries to the distribution supervisor.
  • Manage and organize your newspaper bundle efficiently for your route.

Required Skills

  • Must be 13 years old at the time of application.
  • Ability to walk or bike long distances carrying a newspaper bag.
  • Punctual and reliable, with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with volunteer work or school projects demonstrating responsibility.
  • Familiarity with the local Rialto neighborhood streets and addresses.
  • Ownership of a bicycle for easier route navigation.
