Job Description
Eastman Chemical Company is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Chemical Bench Technician in McKinney, TX. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for those looking to kickstart their career in the chemical manufacturing industry. As a Chemical Bench Technician, you will play a crucial role in supporting our research, development, and quality control efforts by performing essential laboratory experiments, analyses, and data collection. We welcome freshers with a strong desire to learn and contribute to a dynamic scientific environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products using established procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, titrators, and chromatography systems.
- Accurately record and document experimental data, observations, and results in laboratory notebooks and electronic systems.
- Prepare chemical reagents, solutions, and samples for analysis according to standard operating procedures.
- Assist in troubleshooting laboratory equipment issues and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, quality standards, and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Communicate effectively with senior technicians, chemists, and other team members regarding project status and results.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field preferred.
- Basic understanding of general chemistry principles and laboratory safety practices.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous laboratory experience, even if academic or through internships.
- Familiarity with Quality Control (QC) or Research and Development (R&D) laboratory environments.
- Knowledge of specific analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR).
- Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
