Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated UPS Metadata Analyst with a strong focus on Machine Learning to join our innovative team. This 100% remote role involves designing, developing, and maintaining robust metadata solutions that support our extensive data ecosystem, with a particular emphasis on enhancing our machine learning models and data pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of metadata management principles, excellent analytical skills, and hands-on experience with ML concepts and tools. You will be instrumental in ensuring the quality, consistency, and accessibility of metadata across various platforms, directly impacting the accuracy and performance of our predictive analytics and operational efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive metadata frameworks and repositories to support data governance, data quality, and ML initiatives.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and data engineers to understand their metadata needs and integrate solutions into their workflows.
  • Develop and apply automated processes for metadata extraction, cataloging, and lineage tracking for diverse data sources.
  • Analyze metadata to identify patterns, anomalies, and opportunities for improving data discoverability and utilization within ML projects.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies, standards, and regulatory requirements related to metadata.
  • Support the documentation of data models, data dictionaries, and business glossaries for clarity and consistency.
  • Proactively identify and resolve metadata-related issues, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Research and evaluate new metadata management tools and technologies to enhance capabilities and efficiency.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with various database technologies (e.g., relational, NoSQL, data warehouses).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Demonstrable experience with metadata management tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDM).
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts, data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python for data manipulation and automation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their metadata services.
  • Knowledge of Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools.
  • Certifications in data governance, data management, or cloud platforms.
