Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Economic Policy Analyst with a strong focus on finance and Wall Street dynamics to join our reputable economic research team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and forecasting economic trends, regulatory changes, and geopolitical events that impact financial markets and our clients. This role requires a deep understanding of macroeconomics, financial market operations, and policy implications to provide actionable insights for senior leadership and business units.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth research and analysis of economic policies, regulatory frameworks, and market trends relevant to the financial sector and Wall Street.
  • Monitor global economic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical developments, assessing their potential impact on financial markets and the bank's strategies.
  • Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and commentaries for internal stakeholders, including senior management, investment teams, and risk management.
  • Develop and maintain econometric models and forecasting tools to predict policy outcomes and market reactions.
  • Collaborate with other research teams, strategists, and business units to integrate economic analysis into business decisions.
  • Represent the bank at industry conferences, seminars, and policy discussions, sharing insights and fostering relationships.
  • Provide timely and concise updates on critical economic and policy developments.

Required Skills

  • Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related quantitative field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in economic research, policy analysis, or financial markets, preferably within a financial institution, central bank, or government agency.
  • Strong understanding of macroeconomics, financial derivatives, capital markets, and regulatory environments (e.g., Dodd-Frank, Basel III).
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata, EViews) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex economic concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and critical analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • CFA designation or progress towards it.
  • Experience with Bloomberg Terminal, Refinitiv Eikon, or similar financial data platforms.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset for our Montreal office.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals or reputable industry reports.
