Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Records Management Specialist with a strong focus on supporting federal agencies, specifically with Apple ecosystem technologies. This role involves ensuring compliance with federal records management regulations, implementing best practices for digital and physical recordkeeping, and providing expert support for Apple devices and platforms within a government environment. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity and accessibility of vital agency information, contributing to efficient and secure operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain records management policies and procedures in accordance with NARA (National Archives and Records Administration) and other federal guidelines.
  • Provide expert guidance and support for Apple devices (Mac, iPad, iPhone) and associated software used for records creation and management within federal agencies.
  • Conduct records inventories, appraisals, and scheduling for both physical and electronic records, with an emphasis on data stored or accessed via Apple platforms.
  • Manage the lifecycle of records from creation to disposition, including classification, storage, retrieval, and eventual archiving or destruction.
  • Train agency staff on records management best practices, federal regulations, and the effective use of Apple tools for information handling.
  • Collaborate with IT security and compliance teams to ensure data integrity and security across all records management systems, particularly those integrated with Apple solutions.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to records management activities and compliance audits.
  • Assist with the migration of legacy records to modern digital platforms, considering Apple-specific formats and integration requirements.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in records management, preferably within a federal government context.
  • In-depth knowledge of NARA regulations and federal records management policies (e.g., OMB M-19-21).
  • Proficiency with Apple operating systems (macOS, iOS) and familiarity with Apple's enterprise management tools (e.g., Jamf, Apple Business Manager).
  • Strong understanding of digital recordkeeping systems, electronic document management (EDM), and content management systems (CMS).
  • Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM) or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Experience with specific federal agency IT environments or records systems.
  • Familiarity with data governance principles and privacy regulations.
  • Project management experience.
