Job Description

Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in healthcare without prior experience? Interior Health Authority is offering an incredible opportunity to become a fully trained Phlebotomist through our comprehensive and fully paid clinical training program. As a Trainee Phlebotomist, you will learn the essential skills required to perform venipuncture, collect blood samples, and interact with patients in a compassionate and professional manner. This program is designed to provide you with all the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to excel in this vital role, leading to a certification and a full-time position upon successful completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all aspects of the fully paid clinical training program.
  • Learn and master venipuncture techniques under direct supervision.
  • Accurately collect and label blood samples according to established protocols.
  • Adhere strictly to safety, infection control, and patient identification procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures clearly and reassuringly.
  • Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Document all procedures accurately in patient records.
  • Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in a customer service role.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology (asset, but not required).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
