Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in healthcare without prior experience? Interior Health Authority is offering an incredible opportunity to become a fully trained Phlebotomist through our comprehensive and fully paid clinical training program. As a Trainee Phlebotomist, you will learn the essential skills required to perform venipuncture, collect blood samples, and interact with patients in a compassionate and professional manner. This program is designed to provide you with all the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to excel in this vital role, leading to a certification and a full-time position upon successful completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all aspects of the fully paid clinical training program.
- Learn and master venipuncture techniques under direct supervision.
- Accurately collect and label blood samples according to established protocols.
- Adhere strictly to safety, infection control, and patient identification procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Provide excellent customer service and compassionate care to patients of all ages.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures clearly and reassuringly.
- Process and prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
- Document all procedures accurately in patient records.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in a customer service role.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (asset, but not required).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
