Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate ICU / Critical Care Nurses to join our dynamic team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is an incredible opportunity for experienced nurses looking to make a significant impact in a critical care setting. You will provide direct nursing care to critically ill patients, utilizing your expertise in advanced medical technology and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) according to established protocols and standards.
- Monitor vital signs, interpret lab results, and respond promptly to critical changes in patient condition, escalating as necessary.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including complex intravenous therapies, blood transfusions, and pain management.
- Operate and maintain life-support equipment such as mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, IV pumps, and continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) machines.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust individualized patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment plans, disease processes, and recovery processes in a clear and compassionate manner.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely patient records within the electronic health record (EHR) system.
- Participate in continuing education, professional development activities, and unit-based initiatives to enhance clinical expertise and quality of care.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan (or eligibility to obtain prior to start).
- Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as an RN in an ICU or Critical Care setting.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Demonstrated strong assessment, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and team members.
- Ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-stress, and emotionally demanding environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems; Epic experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
- Experience with specialty units such as Surgical ICU, Medical ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, or Neuro ICU.
- Experience with advanced critical care modalities like Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) or Impella.
- Previous experience precepting new nurses or students.
