Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry-Level Textile Chemist to join our innovative team in Wesley Chapel, FL. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to launch their career in the fashion and apparel industry. You will contribute to our commitment to quality and product development by conducting various chemical tests, analyses, and research on textile materials and finishes. Under the guidance of senior chemists, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our products meet stringent quality, safety, and performance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical and physical tests on textile fibers, yarns, fabrics, and finished garments according to established ASTM, AATCC, and ISO standards.
- Assist in the development and optimization of new textile finishes, dyes, and chemical treatments.
- Document and interpret test results accurately, preparing clear reports for review by senior staff.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Prepare chemical solutions and reagents for laboratory experiments and tests.
- Conduct basic research on material properties, performance, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Collaborate with product development and quality assurance teams to resolve material-related issues.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Textile Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of fundamental chemical principles and laboratory techniques.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report generation.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship or co-op experience in a textile, chemical, or manufacturing laboratory setting.
- Familiarity with textile testing standards (e.g., AATCC, ASTM, ISO).
- Knowledge of textile dyeing, finishing, and printing processes.
- Experience with laboratory instrumentation such as spectrophotometers, pH meters, and tensile testers.
