Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Cybersecurity Analyst with a focus on Microsoft technologies to join our rapidly growing team. This is a 100% remote position within the USA, offering an excellent opportunity for individuals eager to start or advance their career in cybersecurity. You will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents within client environments, primarily utilizing Microsoft security tools and platforms. This role is ideal for a proactive learner who wants to gain hands-on experience and contribute to securing critical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and events from various sources, including Microsoft 365 Defender, Azure Security Center, and SIEM platforms.
- Perform initial triage and analysis of security incidents to determine scope, impact, and root cause.
- Escalate complex security incidents to senior analysts or appropriate teams for further investigation and resolution.
- Assist in the implementation and configuration of Microsoft security solutions, such as Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Purview.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of security policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Participate in vulnerability assessments and penetration testing efforts, identifying and reporting potential security gaps.
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and Microsoft security features.
- Provide basic security awareness training and guidance to internal teams and clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices are integrated into all aspects of IT operations.
Required Skills
- Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity principles, threats, and vulnerabilities.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems and networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, Firewalls).
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 services (e.g., Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams).
- Understanding of identity and access management concepts, especially with Azure Active Directory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- A passion for learning and continuous improvement in the field of cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals (SC-900), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900).
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Familiarity with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools.
- Prior experience in an IT support or helpdesk role with security exposure.
