Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Linen and Laundry Porter to join our vibrant team in Southampton. This full-time position involves routine work from Monday to Friday, ensuring the efficient handling and distribution of linen and laundry throughout the hotel. The ideal candidate will be physically fit, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team to maintain our high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. Key Responsibilities

  • Collect soiled linen from guest rooms, laundry chutes, and designated collection points.
  • Sort, count, and transport linen to the laundry facility.
  • Operate commercial washing and drying machines according to safety and operational guidelines.
  • Fold, press, and organize clean linen for distribution.
  • Deliver clean linen to guest rooms, storage areas, and various hotel departments (e.g., F&B, spa).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the linen room and laundry area.
  • Report any damaged linen or malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and hygiene standards.
  • Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation as required.
  • Support other housekeeping tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move heavy bags of linen (up to 25kg)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
  • Basic understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Good communication skills (verbal English)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hotel, laundry, or similar operational environment
  • Knowledge of different fabric types and their care instructions
  • Experience operating commercial laundry equipment
