Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Logging Truck Driver to join our team in the Jacksonville, FL region. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of logs from various forestry sites to mills or processing centers. As a crucial part of our supply chain, you will be responsible for operating heavy-duty logging trucks, adhering to all DOT regulations, and maintaining a high standard of vehicle maintenance and safety. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate logging trucks to transport timber products from harvest sites to designated delivery points.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and logging equipment, documenting any defects or maintenance needs.
  • Ensure loads are properly secured, balanced, and comply with weight limits and safety regulations.
  • Adhere strictly to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, company policies, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, delivery manifests, and other required paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, forestry supervisors, and mill personnel.
  • Navigate various terrains, including unpaved forest roads and highways, safely and efficiently.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical failures promptly.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Clean driving record (MVR) for the past 3-5 years
  • Proven experience operating heavy-duty trucks, preferably in logging or related industries
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and federal/state transportation laws
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, lifting, and securing loads
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to company policies
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with various types of logging trailers (e.g., pole trailers, lowboys)
  • Knowledge of timber grades and species common to the Southeast US
  • Familiarity with GPS and navigation systems in remote areas
  • Mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle repairs and troubleshooting
