Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a career in a fast-paced logistics environment? Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a Forklift Spotter / Safety Assistant in our St. Petersburg facility. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone who is committed to maintaining a safe workspace and assisting with critical warehouse operations. No prior forklift license is required to start, as we will provide comprehensive training and support your development. Your primary role will be to ensure the safe movement of materials and personnel within our warehouse, working closely with forklift operators to prevent accidents and promote a culture of safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a vigilant spotter for forklift operators, providing clear communication and guidance during material handling.
- Monitor active work areas for potential hazards, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and procedures.
- Direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic safely within the warehouse and loading dock areas.
- Communicate effectively with forklift operators, team leads, and other warehouse personnel to coordinate tasks.
- Assist with the non-operating aspects of material movement, such as preparing loads or organizing inventory.
- Report any safety incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately to management.
- Participate in regular safety briefings and contribute to ongoing safety improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, identifying and addressing potential trip hazards.
