Job Description
Are you a new graduate Registered Nurse or an experienced RN looking to transition into a new specialty? Saint Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City invites you to join our dynamic RN Residency Program. This comprehensive, paid orientation program is designed to provide you with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to excel in your nursing career. Through a blend of didactic instruction, simulation, hands-on clinical experience, and dedicated mentorship, you will be prepared to provide exceptional patient care within a supportive and collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in all phases of the RN Residency program, including classroom learning, simulation, and precepted clinical rotations.
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of experienced preceptors, adhering to established policies, procedures, and standards of nursing practice.
- Develop and implement individualized patient care plans, assessing patient needs, and evaluating outcomes.
- Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, monitoring patient responses and documenting observations.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records in compliance with regulatory and hospital standards.
- Actively seek feedback and participate in self-assessment to enhance professional growth and clinical competence.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills in various clinical scenarios.
Required Skills
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and commitment to professional development.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Previous healthcare experience (e.g., CNA, PCT, volunteer).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or willingness to obtain).
