Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Freight Auditor with a strong data entry focus to join our remote team. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing freight bills, ensuring accuracy against contracts, tariffs, and service agreements, and identifying discrepancies for resolution. This position requires meticulous data entry skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Your work will directly contribute to cost savings and operational efficiency for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Audit freight bills and invoices for accuracy, identifying discrepancies in rates, accessorial charges, and fuel surcharges.
- Verify compliance with contractual agreements, tariffs, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform precise data entry of freight bill details into the auditing system.
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies with carriers and internal teams.
- Communicate audit findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Generate reports on audit findings, cost savings, and billing trends.
- Maintain accurate and organized records of all audited freight bills and documentation.
- Collaborate with carriers and logistics teams to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for auditing processes.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in freight auditing, logistics, or a related data entry-intensive role.
- Strong understanding of freight tariffs, rates, and carrier billing practices.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) or freight audit software.
- Knowledge of various shipping modes (LTL, FTL, Parcel, Ocean, Air).
- Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Proven track record of identifying cost savings through audit processes.
