Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Health & Social Care Porter to join our community-based team. This vital role involves providing essential support services, ensuring the safe and efficient transport of patients, equipment, and materials across various community settings. You will be a key part of our commitment to delivering seamless care, requiring excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a strong sense of responsibility. This position is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our community health services, directly impacting patient experience and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, often with mobility challenges, between different community health sites or within a single large facility, using appropriate equipment and adhering to all safety protocols.
- Move medical equipment, supplies, and confidential documents promptly and securely as directed, ensuring their integrity and availability.
- Provide empathetic support and communication to patients during transport, helping to alleviate anxiety and ensure comfort.
- Adhere strictly to infection control policies and procedures, including proper cleaning of equipment and work areas.
- Liaise effectively with clinical and administrative staff to coordinate transport requests and manage schedules efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of transport activities and equipment movements.
- Respond to urgent requests and emergencies with professionalism and efficiency.
- Contribute to a positive and respectful working environment, demonstrating teamwork and a patient-first approach.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual handling tasks safely.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a porter, healthcare assistant, or customer service role.
- Knowledge of health and safety guidelines relevant to a healthcare setting.
- Full clean UK driving license (desirable for community-based travel between sites).
- First Aid certification.
