Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Night Shift Care Assistant to join our team in Cochrane. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a quiet, structured environment and are committed to providing exceptional care during overnight hours. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of our residents, supporting them with daily activities and monitoring their health needs while maintaining a calm and peaceful atmosphere. We offer a premium hourly rate to recognize the vital nature of this night shift role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with personal care activities including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting during the night shift.
  • Monitor residents' vital signs, health status, and report any changes or concerns to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Support residents with mobility and transfers, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to ensure safety.
  • Ensure residents receive their medications as prescribed and assist with documentation under supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and quiet environment to promote residents' rest and comfort.
  • Respond to resident call bells and requests in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Complete accurate and detailed documentation of care provided and any observations.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to implement care plans and address resident needs.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development as required.

Required Skills

  • Completion of a Health Care Aide (HCA) certificate or equivalent recognized program.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Care Assistant or similar role, preferably in a senior care setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team during night shifts.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient approach.
  • Excellent observational and reporting skills.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a quiet or specialized care environment.
  • Knowledge of dementia care principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications for documentation.
  • Additional language skills are an asset.
