Job Description

Join the YMCA of Greater Wichita team as a Summer Camp Counselor Aide and embark on a rewarding student leadership journey! This role is designed for enthusiastic students eager to develop leadership skills, gain practical experience in youth development, and make a tangible impact on young lives. You will work alongside experienced camp counselors, assisting with daily activities, ensuring camper safety, and fostering a positive and inclusive camp atmosphere. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist camp counselors in supervising groups of campers during various activities, including sports, arts and crafts, and educational games.
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating leadership, good sportsmanship, and respect for all campers and staff.
  • Help organize and lead age-appropriate activities under the guidance of lead counselors.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers, adhering to YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Support the setup and cleanup of camp facilities and activity areas.
  • Promote an inclusive environment where every camper feels valued and engaged.
  • Communicate effectively with counselors, campers, and parents (when appropriate).
  • Participate actively in all camp training sessions and staff meetings.
