Job Description

Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding entry-level opportunity in the rapidly expanding offshore wind energy sector? SNC-Lavalin is seeking highly motivated and resilient Trainee Offshore Wind Farm Deckhands to join our growing team. This is a unique chance to start a career in renewable energy with extensive training and development provided. You will work as part of a dedicated team supporting the construction, operation, and maintenance of offshore wind farms, involving shift work in a dynamic marine environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in general vessel operations, including mooring, anchoring, and cargo handling.
  • Support the safe transfer of personnel and equipment to and from offshore structures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning tasks on the vessel and offshore structures.
  • Participate in safety drills, emergency procedures, and follow strict health and safety protocols.
  • Learn and operate various deck machinery and equipment under supervision.
  • Maintain accurate logs and records as required.
  • Work effectively as part of a team in a challenging marine environment, including various weather conditions.
  • Commit to a shift-work schedule, which may include extended periods offshore.

Required Skills

  • Strong work ethic and a desire to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent physical fitness and ability to perform demanding tasks in a marine setting.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as part of a shift rotation.
  • Comfortable working at sea for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety procedures.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a marine, offshore, construction, or industrial setting (e.g., fishing, maritime, general labor).
  • Valid STCW basic safety training certification (can be obtained during training).
  • Marine Medical Certificate (can be obtained during training).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to swim.
